Thu May 19 04:32pm
Reminder: Cross Country Wednesday 18th May
Mon May 16 04:13pmReminder: Cross Country Wednesday 18th May
The first race will be starting at 12.00 pm approx (she’s normally all over by 1pm). The event will be on sun, rain, hail or snow – this is what cross country running is all about. It will only postponed if the grounds are closed due to conditions.
Please have children come to school dressed in their P.E. gear, sports shoes and polar fleece. A spare change of clothes for back at school would also be a good idea if it is wet. Children will need to bring a drink bottle. If your child requires an inhaler or any other medication, please make sure they have this with them.
All children in the senior girl’s and senior boy’s races (y5 and 6) will be competing for Cross Country trophies, donated by the Pearce Family. Only 10 and 11 year olds are eligible to represent our school at the Eastern and Southland Cross Country Event.
Running Order (age as of the 31st of December 2022 – opposite end of the year to Athletics)
Pukeko and Kereru – girls then boys
Tui and Kea – girls then boys
Ruru, PW, Moa (y4) – girls then boys
Moa, Takahe and Kiwi – girls then boys
Trudy will be there with her coffee cart from 11.45am.
Parent helpers – I’ll send your maps home tomorrow, if you could meet with Jayne Davis on the day, she’ll make sure you’re heading in the right direction

Mon May 09 01:42pmYear 5 and 6 Rippa Tournament …
Fri May 06 12:13pmHi Guys,
Wow – we had so many kids keen for this opportunity, it was crazy! Sadly I’m only allowed to send one team, and a team of 24 kids is a tad large. For this reason, I’ve pulled the 5’s as they will get a chance to go next year. Mrs Broome pulled the other names out of the hat (5 girls and 5 boys). If one of them goes down with the Vid, I will draw another player from the hat.
The names drawn were: Kate Hoar, Gus Turnbull, Moss Wilson, Mason Chittock, Drake Newton, Zavier Hansen, Olivia Sanson, Kate Wilson, Mia Brock and Lucie Drummond.
I have sent parents an email – please read and fill out the form in the link (for registration) – it’s not in my email it’s part of Hua’s original email.
Cheers,
Mal 🙂

Term 2 – orange traffic light setting
Fri Apr 29 04:12pmDear whānau,
We hope that you managed to fit some relaxing family time into the Easter holidays. We are looking forward to having our children back for term 2, which will be filled again with lots of great learning experiences including Cross Country, swimming and Matariki.
You’ll be aware that, as a country, we are now in the Orange traffic light setting, however, COVID-19 is still widespread in our community, the Ministry of Education and our Southern DHB still strongly encourage that masks continue to be worn by ākonga (students) and staff in Years 4 and above when indoors. As caregivers, aside from those with exemptions, we would also ask that you wear masks when you are indoors onsite e.g. classrooms, the office and the church and that you continue to keep your wee people home when they are unwell.
We will regularly reassess this, taking into account community case numbers and public health advice. We are hoping it will be a more settled term where we can enjoy sharing assemblies, whole school Masses, and the other cool things we get up to with you – in person!
God bless,
Mallory

Sunday School Mass – Zoom Invite. Please click for more information.
Fri Mar 04 08:34pmSunday School Mass – Zoom Invite
This weekend, the Sunday Mass was due to be a school Mass. Since we can’t be there together as a school and parish we have pre-recorded our lovely year 6 students doing the readings and some beautiful singing from some of our classes. This is a way that we can as a school still celebrate with the parish without being there in person.
Here is the zoom link for the 10am Sunday Mass.

Seesaw
Seesaw is a platform for student engagement that inspires students of all ages to do their best, and saves teachers time! Students use creative tools to take pictures, draw, record videos and more to capture learning in a portfolio. Teachers find or create activities to share with students. The Seesaw platform is used for homework activities as well as in class work.
Parents are also notified by the class teacher about classroom and school activities and events via the Seesaw platform. Parents can also Seesaw their child’s teacher.
Families only have access to their child’s journal. This means you will see student work tagged with your child’s name and posts the teacher tags with ‘Everyone’. Families will also be able to see any comment made by another user on their child’s journal posts.
